Diary of A Mean Queen
by Anya Rafa
Dear diary, 2nd of May
my name is Angela Cross and I’m nine, people call me ‘The Mean Queen,’
cus they think I’m mean. Just because I’m rich doesn’t mean I’m mean, right?
Well, at least my friends Lilly Zash and July Drazz don’t think so. When I’m
giving people advice doesn’t mean I’m being mean right? Like, the time I told
Tina Tang that her hair smells like fish and that she should wash her hair with
better shampoo that DOESN’T SMELL LIKE FISH she just stared at me and said ,’I
don’t need your advice, Mean Queen!!', and strolled off. I just laughed
and told her that I was just giving her some of my advice. At least Mrs Jones
likes me. She said that I was her favourite student. Today she wrote a math
problem on the board that nobody in our class knew the answer but me.
60+84=?
She asked me to do it and this is what I wrote:
60+84=144
Lily and July smiled and clapped their hands.

Dear diary, 3rd of May
today is Saturday and me, Lily and July went swimming in my pool. Daddy just
put a few slides in so we could slide. We had heaps of fun!! My maid Carla gave
us lots of ice-cream, cake and drinks for us to have a picnic near the pool on
the picnic table. Mummy, Mrs Zash and Mrs Drazz came and ate with us,
too. It was yum. I got a text message from my brother, Brad who is in college
and is eighteen and it said:
Hi Angie, wazzup? Is mum OK?? What r u doin? I’m playing with my BFF
Chris in the park on Sunday, do u wanna come? Plz reply!!
XX ur big bro, Brad in college J
I grinned and Lily and July barged in to see the message on my iPhone.
“Your brother is awesome!!,” July exclaimed. “Can we please go?,” Lily pleaded
with wide twinkly doggy-eyes. “Oh, okay,” I say and send a message saying:
kk. il go. wat time?cu there
XX ur little sis who is ten, Angela
I pressed send and relaxed a little, this was gonna be a great day!

Dear diary, 4th of May
I get dressed into my purple t-shirt and jeans. Mum is getting our limo
ready and I see July and Lily in the other limo’s. We arrive at the park in
time to see Brad and Chris parking their bikes. “Hiya!!,” Brad exclaims,
flinging his arms around mum, then me ,”It’s great to see you guys.” I grin
then catch sight of July and Lily looking sad. “Lets play guys! C’mon!,” I say,
grinning. They smile again as we run to the monkey-bars. We play all day ‘till
we’ve gone so late in the night, that we all have no choice but to camp here.
Luckily, our limo has a large cabin in it so we could camp here until morning.
Chris and Brad stroll towards their bikes, until Brad bumps into a tree and Chris
trips over a stick. Seriously? Mum runs to Chris and Brad and comforts her. Me,
July and Lily giggle at them.

Dear
diary,
5th of May
today there is a new boy called Max Fridwick. He is loony. In science
lessons he kept going on about aliens and spaceships until he got timeout for
an hour writing down on the board ‘I must never speak of aliens again,’ fifty
times. In history he kept saying that the mummies of Egypt are still
alive and the teacher sends him home. See, first day you have to make a good
impression.
